Fire at Little City damages kitchen; no injuries reported

A kitchen fire in a group home at Palatine's Little City left about $5,000 in damages Tuesday, but caused no injuries, Palatine Rural Fire Protection District officials said.

The home was unoccupied when the fire began just after 11 a.m., and crews arrived to find light smoke in the kitchen.

The fire and damages were contained to the kitchen. The fire is believed to have started from something accidentally left on the stove.
