Antioch teen dies in head-on crash

An Antioch teen was killed Friday morning in a head-on crash on Route 173, authorities said.

Dylan Smith, 17, was driving west when he collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling east, according to authorities. Smith was pronounced dead at scene, according to Antioch police. The pickup driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said an autopsy was conducted Friday, and toxicology tests are pending.

Police continue to investigate the crash, which closed Route 173 for more than four hours.
