Southwestern IN man charged with killing woman he lived with

SHELBURN, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police say a southwestern Indiana man is facing preliminary charges in connection with the beating death of a woman he lived with.

They say 32-year-old Joshua Travis Hall of Shelburn was charged Thursday with voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, criminal confinement, and battery. He already had been jailed for battery after allegedly assaulting a man who interrupted his beating of the woman, 35-year-old woman Rustin Rehmel of Shelburn, outside a bar in Farmersburg early Monday.

Another bar patron gave Rehmel a ride to her home about 20 miles south of Terre Haute, but police say Hall forced his way into the home through a window. Rehmel later fell unconscious.

It wasn't clear whether Hall has an attorney who might comment on his behalf.
