GOP's Young sets Indianapolis fundraiser with George W. Bush

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Former President George W. Bush will stop in Indianapolis during a fundraising trip to the state next month for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Todd Young.

The Young campaign says the Indianapolis reception will be held Sept. 12, the same day Bush attends another Young fundraising event in Elkhart.

Young is trying to close a large campaign money advantage held by Democratic candidate Evan Bayh. The former Indiana governor and U.S. senator entered the election race in July with nearly $9.5 million in his campaign account, while Young's campaign had about $1.2 million at the end of June.

Bush has kept a low profile since leaving office in 2009. The receptions will raise money for Young's general election account, the Indiana Republican Party and a political action committee that supports Young.
