International Chicago 5K race draws legendary runners

Four legendary runners - Steve Jones, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Constantina Dita and Deena Kastor - will return to Chicago take part in inaugural International Chicago 5K on Oct. 8, race officials announced Tuesday.

"Steve, Joan, Constantina and Deena are global running icons who have inspired a generation of runners," said Carey Pinkowski, Bank of America Chicago Marathon executive race director. It is an honor to welcome them back to Chicago to celebrate our city's cultural diversity with the International Chicago 5K."

After the International Chicago 5K on Oct. 8, the annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon will take place on Oct. 9.
