Longmeadow foes hardly 'parochial'

Re: Raymond Bellock's letter supporting Longmeadow. He believes waiting longer during "rush hour" justifies the road/toll bridge.

He should drive and, gads, walk the route of the road being widen and extended through established communities; across pristine farm land; the bridging route that will environmentally devastate a lovely river. He'll see it's not a "parochial view."

Locals should be concerned and parochial because the next phases to relieve the "dreadful road congestion" may be to widen Sleepy Hollow Road to "relieve" traffic on Randall Road; connect Corporate Parkway to Sleepy Hollow, "improve" Grand View Drive and extend it to Route 31; extend Boncosky across the Fox River to connect with Duncan.

New traffic lights will be added at each intersection with Longmeadow; there are no laws to control the volume of noise from jake-braking trucks passing through the tollbooths; noise from motorcycles, speakers, or whining tires. Stand along any major road and you will need to block your ears.

View Google-maps satellite, count existing homes bordering the project; note green space to be covered with asphalt and concrete, sprayed over with new streetlights where these is near darkness. We talk about saving the earth by not cutting trees, yet there will be thousands of old growth trees cut, oh!, but there will be new trees planted, just like those twig-trees planted in Algonquin's Towne Park!

Longmeadow extension/ toll bridge is a project put-on by the powerful few in disregard to the many "directly affected by the road." People should record traffic noise and light pollution that will result from the horrible project, play them at chairman's home so he understands why they fight for a quality of life. Attend the Public Hearing Aug. 30, protest as loud as the traffic noises that will surely impact "those directly affected."
