Aurora buys two video screens for RiverEdge Park

Two new video screens are a part of a plan to improve views for spectators who attend festivals at RiverEdge Park in Aurora.

The city council this week approved paying $147,000 for the screens from "a contractor who was looking to sell two screens at a closeout price," Carie Anne Ergo, chief management officer for the city.

One screen was installed to the right of the stage, near the concession stand over the box office, at the beginning of the concert season. The other is intended for the other side of the stage and is to be ready before the end of the season, Ergo said.

The park, in its fourth year, is hosting 20 events this summer.

The two new screens bring the total to three; a video screen mounted on the back of the sound mixing tower has been in place for a couple of years, Ergo said.

RiverEdge Park has hosted the Color Vibe Race, Two Brothers Summer Festival, Blues on the Fox, the City's Fourth of July celebration, Puerto Rican Heritage Fest and sold-out concerts including Willie Nelson and Family and The Beach Boys this summer.
