Leaders should demand auditor general resign

A shout out to state Reps. Barb Wheeler and Sheri Jesiel. Thank you!

A question for state Sens. Terry Link and Melinda Bush and state Rep. Sam Yingling, why are you hiding from this critical issue?

Frank Mautino was Mike Madigan's deputy leader in Springfield for many years until being appointed to the position of Illinois auditor general. Now, we discover that as a state representative, he spent $213,338.31 in campaign funds for gas and vehicle repairs at Happy's Super Service in Spring Valley, Illinois.

The "gas" and "gas and vehicle repairs" averages over $20,000 per year or roughly $55 per day over a 10-year-and-eight-month period.

Eighty-six transactions ranged between $1,000 and $5,811 at a gas station! All from campaign funds.

A federal investigation is now under way. State Reps. Barb Wheeler and Sheri Jesiel have stepped forward and demanded that Mr. Mautino resign from his position. But where are Link, Bush and Yingling on this issue?

Sam Yingling really doesn't have much choice. After receiving over $900,000 for his last election cycle, he is tied to Mike Madigan's apron strings. Melinda Bush is probably too busy defending SEIU to be bothered. But Terry Link has often painted himself as the leader in Springfield for all of Lake County. Someone needs to remind Terry that leaders don't hide when the going gets tough.

Stop hiding. Stand up and join Barb Wheeler and Sheri Jesiel and get rid of this guy.
