Man pleads guilty in church school's paddling incidents

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A former southern Indiana church employee has pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors after being accused of paddling children at the church's boarding school.

Twenty-two-year-old Christopher Williams pleaded guilty Monday to three counts of criminal recklessness as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. He originally was charged with three felony counts of battery of minors and neglect of a dependent stemming from wooden paddle incidents at Crossroads Baptist Church in Sellersburg.

Williams was sentenced to 180 days on home incarceration. His attorney, Larry Wilder, said his client will likely only serve 87 days after he receives credit for time served.

The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2b9q61N ) church pastor Gerald Harris pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal recklessness in May. He also was sentenced to 180 days of home incarceration.
