Hanover Township backpack giveaway set for Wednesday

Hanover Township will host its annual backpack distribution event for township youth beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., in Hanover Park.

Backpacks filled with school supplies are limited to one per child, and will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Proof of residency is required.

Last year, Hanover Township distributed 1,280 backpacks filled with school supplies.
