Volunteers needed for senior tax preparation

AARP Tax-Aide is looking for volunteers to help seniors in the Northwest suburbs with federal and state tax preparation. No previous tax experience is necessary, but good computer skills are required.

Those who volunteer receive IRS training materials and attend daytime classes in January in Arlington Heights. They must satisfactorily complete a test to become IRS-certified tax preparers. Volunteers must be able to commit to three to four hours once a week during the tax season from February to April.

Are you a computer "techie"? AARP also needs someone with computer experience (hardware/networking) to problem-solve or troubleshoot difficulties with laptops or printers during the 2017 tax season. Certification for tax preparation isn't necessary, but volunteer needs to be available via telephone from February to April, with infrequent trips to tax locations in Northwest suburbs.

If qualified and interested, please complete online application on the AARP website www.aarp.org/taxaide.
