Cougars shock Timber Rattlers for 7th straight win

APPLETON, WI. - Charged with their second straight early deficit, the Kane County Cougars (19-24, 52-61) came back to shock the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (21-22, 55-58), 6-4. The Cougars claimed their seventh straight victory. The latest triumph keeps the Cougars perfect through five games on the road trip in Wisconsin. The Cougars plated six unanswered runs in Sunday's win after facing an initial 2-0 deficit.

Surging out to a 2-0 lead, the Timber Rattlers received a solo home run from former D-Backs prospect, Isan Diaz. The line drive shot was projected past right center field for his league-leading 17th round tripper of the season.

In the fourth, the Cougars tied up the game. Helped by three Timber Rattler errors, Gerard Hernandez pushed the first run through on an RBI ground out. Two batters later, Wisconsin's short stop Luis Aviles tossed an offline throw to first, initially ruled an out via a tag. But the umpires met and reversed the call in the Cougars favor. The crew called Ozuna safe and a run scored to tie the game, 2-2.

The Cougars took a close ballgame and tried their best to run away with it in the sixth inning. The Cougars unloaded a 4-run inning highlighted by a Stryker Trahan 3-run blast. Before Trahan's triumphant shot, Hernandez came through with his second RBI of the afternoon to put the Cougars ahead by a run. Moments later, Trahan sent a line drive over the wall past right, his first homer as a Cougar in 2016 as the Cougars took a 6-3 lead.

In the ninth, Luis Aviles stroked his 8th home run of the season against right-hander Julio Perez (0-0) to get within two runs of the Cougar lead. But after throwing out a runner at home plate, Frank Christy and the Cougars stormed off with the victory.

In relief, Austin Mason (3-0) picked up the win, Scott Grist (6-4) the loss for Wisconsin, and Perez (3) the save.
