Hammond woman dies after shooting in vehicle

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) - A 23-year-old woman has died after an apparent accidental shooting inside a vehicle in Hammond.

Authorities say Megan Jaronski of Hammond died Saturday afternoon. The Lake County Coroner's office pronounced Jaronski dead at Franciscan St. Margaret Health hospital in Hammond. The coroner's office says the cause of death is pending investigation.

Police say they have questioned a man about the shooting, which they are describing as an accidental discharge of a handgun.
