Neighbor, highway boss remove tree danger

It's wonderful when those in your community "have your back."

I want to tell my community how recently two individuals had my back: Gary Muehlfelt, Milton Township Highway Commissioner and my neighbor, Andrea E. Leppert. Andrea had texted me telling me that she was quite concerned that the tree in my front yard might fall on my house because of a serious crack. I checked and could not see the crack. The next day I went to work. At lunch break I saw my phone was filled with multiple texts and voicemail messages from various people. Messages indicated there was some kind of emergency. My daughter advised me that decisions had already been made.

On the way home I found that the five-foot-diameter base tree was in the process of coming down. I am glad to live in a community where people care about my family, our home and our well-being. The crack that Andrea saw was in the trunk of this huge tree! Andrea cared enough to make the call to Milton Township on my behalf. Gary Muehlfelt then took the time to come out himself and survey the situation. After speaking with my 23-year-old daughter, he made the decision that was the situation was so dire that with the impending storm this tree could easily come down that night onto my home. By the time I arrived home that day, important decisions had been made on behalf of my household, the tree was coming down and my household was no longer in danger.

I am glad that I live in Milton Township. I am glad that we have Commissioner Muehlfelt and I am glad that Andrea Leppert is my neighbor.
