Gurnee-area self-defense workshop

A free workshop for self-defense workshop for women and girls is set for Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Warren Township Center, 17801 W. Washington St., near Gurnee. Participants will learn about avoidance tactics, self-defense misconceptions, offensive techniques and defensive escapes. The event will be taught by the nonprofit group, One Light Self Defense. Space is limited and registration is encouraged. While the class is free, donations to One Light are appreciated.
