Des Plaines aldermen to vote on plan for townhouses again

Des Plaines officials have scheduled a special city council meeting for next Monday to consider final approval of a controversial plan for 58 townhouses in downtown Des Plaines.

During a committee meeting July 18, aldermen took a nonbinding 5-3 vote not to approve Lexington Homes' final planned unit development and final plan of subdivision for the townhouse project at 783-841 Lee St. But last November, aldermen voted 5-4 in favor of a preliminary plan for the project.

Last Monday, the council met in closed session to discuss the legal ramifications of rejecting the project after initially approving it.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday at city hall, 1420 Miner St.
