August auditions set for Chicago Master Singers

Vocal auditions for the 2016-2017 season of Chicago Master Singers will be held by appointment on the evenings of Tuesday, Aug. 9; Thursday, Aug. 11; Monday, Aug. 15; and Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Palatine.

Dedicated singers are invited to request an audition appointment by email to cms.information@gmail.com or by leaving a message at the organization's toll-free number, (877) 825-5267 (877-TALKCMS). A chorus member will respond to answer questions and schedule an audition time.

At auditions, singers are encouraged to sing a prepared piece of their choice and bring four copies of the music. Singers without a prepared piece will be asked to sing a familiar song provided at the audition. A pianist will be available for accompaniment. Singers will also be asked to vocalize and sight-read an unfamiliar piece. Members pay dues of $100 per year and purchase their own music.

Chicago Master Singers rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m., in Palatine beginning Aug. 22, and also on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of concert weeks. The 2016-2017 season includes concerts on Nov. 4 and 6, Dec. 9 and 11, and April 28 and 30 at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Divine Word) in Techny (Northbrook). Details about the season can be found at www.chicagomastersingers.org.

Chicago Master Singers, under the direction of Alan Heatherington, is a 125-voice choral ensemble featuring accomplished singers from Chicago and suburban communities.
