60,000 attend Elk Grove summer concerts

More than 60,000 concertgoers attended Elk Grove Village's 8th annual Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series last month, village officials reported Wednesday.

Four concerts were held this summer, featuring Peter Cetera, LeAnn Rimes, Foreigner and Michael McDonald. Cetera performed in conjunction with the village and Lions Club's annual Fourth of July festivities, and Foreigner performed as part of the village's 60th anniversary celebration.

Officials reported an attendance of 75,000 during last year's five concerts.

The shows are funded by the village hotel-motel tax, tobacco license fees, video gambling revenues, park district general revenues and corporate sponsors.
