Police questioning man in connection with Aurora shooting
Aurora police said Tuesday they were questioning a 48-year-old man in connection with a shooting at 6:40 p.m. Monday inside the Latin American Club on the 1300 block of Dearborn Avenue.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the suspect and two of his friends were drinking at the bar and engaged in what appeared to be a normal conversation with the 31-year-old victim, who entered the establishment after the other three men.
The suspect then was seen getting up from the bar and walking toward the front door when he told the victim to come with him. When the victim walked toward the door, the suspect produced a handgun and shot the man several times. The suspect then left the bar, got into his white pickup truck, and fled.
The victim was taken to an Aurora hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The man who police believe to be the gunman was found shortly after the shooting at his home on Aurora's west side and taken into custody without incident.
Police say no charges have yet been filed and a definite motive has not been established.
