Aug. 21: Cruisin' with the Classics Car Show, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grand Dominion Lakeside Lodge, 3555 Grand Dominion, Mundelein. Registration is free to car owners and begins at 8:30 a.m. More than 100 cars competed in the show last year. Disc jockey, food booths, a bouncy house, face painting and balloon making for kids. Nonperishable food items and school supplies will be collected for the Fremont Food Pantry. Raffle proceeds and cash donations also will go to the pantry. “Flyin' down the Highway” is a featured display this year with one-of-a-kind, rare and exotic cars. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 28. Aug. 21: 25th annual Vintage and Antique Motorcycle Show presented by the Chicago Norton Owners Club. Hosted by MCC (Motor Cycle Center), 443 E. Aug. 27: Techs of Tomorrow Scholarship Car Show, College of Lake County, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Lots 1 and 3 at the college, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. Car registration fee is $12, which will support scholarships for CLC's future automotive collision repair and automotive technicians. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon, and visitor voting is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Awards are given to the top 10 vehicles. There will be door prizes, food and beverages available. Sept. 11: 30th annual British Car Festival, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. More than 20 British car clubs, 500 automobiles, authentic British food, Irish dancers, music, technical learning sessions, car merchandise giveaways, classic car parts vendors and new car dealers showcasing the latest imports from Great Britain. For the first time, this year's festival will include valve cover racing, a gravity propelled competition using modified automobile engine valve covers on wheels.
