'Decatur IL Moms' offers mothers a break from isolation

DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - Bailey Broderick returned to her native Decatur and brought with her an idea to help mothers connect and share experiences.

The group "Decatur IL Moms" has been together for five years and aims to end the isolation felt by stay-at-home mothers - especially new ones.

The (Decatur) Herald and Review reports (http://bit.ly/2aLrQfj ) that Broderick imported the program she joined in Milwaukee when her seven-year-old son was born. She says only mothers know why "you always need coffee and all the fun stuff."

The moms meet once or twice a week. The gatherings can be informal, like a recent picnic. Others are organized, including trips to Scovill Zoo or children's activities days at the Decatur Indoor Sports Center or the Decatur Family YMCA.
