Join Shop with a Cop golf outing Aug. 12

Each year, Shop with A Cop provides a joyful holiday for underprivileged children who, without this event, may not experience one. The participating children are identified by schools, churches and social services agencies. On the day of the event, uniformed officers from various agencies volunteer their time to be with the children for lunch, then head to Wal-Mart for an afternoon of shopping with their law enforcement partner. Not only does this ensure a happier holiday season but also provides the children a positive setting to interact with law enforcement officers.

In order to make the event a successful one, Shop with a Cop is hosting its fourth annual golf outing on Friday, Aug. 12, at the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin. Lunch and registration begin at 11 a.m. There will be a noon shotgun start and a 5 p.m. reception and silent auction, and culminating with dinner and awards at 6 p.m. The cost is $125 per player or $500 per foursome, which includes lunch, green fees, cart, reception and dinner. For those nongolfers out there, enjoy the reception and dinner for $40.

The community of Dundee Township and the surrounding area is invited to participate in an activity, which creates positive awareness of this local organization in an easy, interactive and highly effective manner. Shop with a Cop is also currently offering sponsorship opportunities for businesses in the area for this event as well.

Help to make this event a memorable and successful one. Hopefully, together with your support, they can make this an event bringing the community together as well as raising funds for this important organization every year. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
