Colorful fun on the Fox

The St. Charles River Corridor Foundation and the St. Charles Kiwanis Club hosted the annual Bob Leonard 5K River Run and a 1K Family Color Run Sunday in and around Pottawatomie Park.

Both events started and ended at the Grand Pavilion in the park.

The 5K race is certified and digitally timed, while the 1K color run is not timed and focuses on family fun. Participants in the Color Run moved through clouds of brightly-colored cornstarch at intervals along the course.

It was a party atmosphere with food and music after the runs. More families than expected took part in the Color Run, so many organizers ran out of participation medals.

Bob Leonard worked with others to form the St. Charles River Corridor Foundation and was active in pursuing riverfront projects until he died in 2006.
