'Get Out of Jail Free'

Ruth Bader Ginsburg regrets making political comments about Donald Trump and would not do it again. Hillary regrets having had a private e-mail server in her basement and would not do it again. Loretta Lynch regrets having spoken privately with Bill Clinton while his wife was being investigated by the FBI and would not do it again. I guess powerful people have only to "regret" and say they would not do it again in order to earn a "Get Out of Jail Free" card. And we are supposed to respect and trust these people? I wonder how this would work for the average person.
