Bail denied 17-year-old charged in the fatal shooting of 2

CHICAGO (AP) - A Cook County judge has denied bail to a 17-year-old Chicago teen accused in the March fatal shooting of two.

Judge Peggy Chiampas on Tuesday called Hajuan Hentz, who is being tried as an adult, "a danger to the public" in denying him bond.

According to prosecutors, 23-year-old Demetrius Tolliver and 43-year-old Dejanaba Altman and several other people were standing near a West Side home when shots were fired from a van containing four people. Tolliver, a former high school basketball standout, and Altman were killed. A 16-year-old was wounded.

Police later found the van and discovered a shell casing that matched some of the casings at the shooting scene. Authorities say fingerprints matching Hentz's were also found, and several witnesses identified him as the shooter.

Hentz's attorney said he's a high school senior who lives with his mother and two brothers.
