We need referendum on leadership posts

Seems to me the only way we will ever get new people for the speaker of the House and Senate. is to have a referendum on the ballot in November that allows the entire state to vote on these two very important offices. It is not a very fair way to only allow the people in their districts to vote for them. We all know how unfair the districts are divided up.

I read the opinion page every day and very much enjoy it. As yet I have not seen a suggestion to have a referendum addressed to this purpose. These offices should not be a lifetime commitment. Two terms should be enough. Let's get some new blood with new ideas to get our State turned around.
