Washington state lawmaker gives to Mundelein High

Mundelein High School has received a $1,000 donation from a former Washington state lawmaker's charitable foundation as a result of his chance meeting with a faculty member, officials said Monday.

Former state Rep. Fred Finn pledged the donation after meeting a Mundelein High science teacher at a June wedding, Principal Anthony Kroll said. The teacher told Finn about the science and technology wing now being built at Mundelein High, and Finn was impressed enough to contact administrators and offer a donation.

The school board will formally accept the donation with a vote Tuesday.
