Key dates in Indiana election ballot shake-up
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Key upcoming dates in the shake-up in candidates for Indiana races for governor, U.S. senator and Congress:
- Friday: Indiana Democratic state committee expected to confirm former U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh as the party's nominee to face Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Young for one the state's Senate seats.
- July 26: Indiana Republican state committee scheduled to vote on replacement for Gov. Mike Pence as the GOP candidate for governor against Democratic nominee John Gregg. Leading candidates are Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb and U.S. Reps. Susan Brooks and Todd Rokita.
- Aug 1: Republican state committee meeting set to select a lieutenant governor nominee. Holcomb withdrew his candidacy for the office last week to seek the gubernatorial nomination.
- Early August: Republican precinct committee members in the congressional districts now represented by Brooks and Rokita select candidates after both also withdrew from the ballot. They would be eligible to be restored to the ballot for Congress if not selected as the candidate for governor.
