Budget must be balanced

This is to the editorial staff of the Daily Herald. I read your recent articles on the Illinois budget mess and your front page editorial for the legislature to get something done regarding the budget. But I have not seen much concerning the enacted budget - specifically whether expenditures exceed revenues and if so by how much. No budget is worthwhile unless it balances and if the current enacted budget is out of balance, the voters should be told loudly. If Illinois cannot make ends meet in the current relatively good economic times, what will happen in the next recession?
