Northern Indiana man gets 65 years in prison in teen's death

PLYMOUTH, Ind. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to murder in the slaying of a 15-year-old northern Indiana girl has been sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Marshall Superior Court Judge Robert Bowen on Thursday gave Fabian Rubio of Bremen the maximum sentence in the death of 15-year old Desi Jones. The Bremen girl's body was discovered Dec. 19, 2014, near a wooded area a few miles from her home.

A coroner ruled her death was caused by blunt force trauma. Court records say her upper body was charred by fire.

Under a plea agreement with Rubio, prosecutors dropped charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and abuse of a corpse. Rubio already was serving a sentence for statutory rape of a minor.
