Top-seeded Kohlschreiber in quarterfinals of the German Open

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) - Top-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber needed three sets Wednesday to overcome Nicolas Kicker for a place in the quarterfinals of the German Open.

Kohlschreiber rallied to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 and next plays Renzo Olivo, who defeated Maximo Gonzalez 6-3, 6-4 to reach his first career quarterfinal.

Third-seeded Pablo Cuevas eased past Thiago Monteiro 6-2, 6-3 to reach the last eight. Cuevas defeated the left-handed Monteiro en route to back-to-back titles at Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in February and now owns a 13-1 career record against him.
