Reboot Illinois partners with Politifact
Reboot, a nonpartisan digital and social media firm, was founded in 2012 by Anne Dias and is a political journalism website with offices in Chicago and Springfield. It was acquired in March by investment firm AFK Media Group.
PolitiFact was launched by the Tampa Bay Times in 2007 to check claims in the 2008 presidential race.
Together, the organizations will form PolitiFact Illinois to research and rate newsworthy claims and assertions. Its work will be stored in both a national database and on the Reboot website, RebootIllinois.com.
Reboot Illinois Publisher Madeleine Doubek, a former Daily Herald executive editor, called the partnership "an incredible opportunity to help Illinoisans cut through the rhetoric, spin and double talk that clutters the internet, our airwaves and our conversations."
