Central Indiana man guilty in deaths of highway workers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A central Indiana man has been found guilty in the deaths of two highway construction workers killed when they were struck by his pickup truck.
Twenty-four-year-old Jason Stafford of Fortville was found guilty Wednesday of reckless operation of a vehicle in a highway work zone and two counts of disregarding traffic control device or flagman in highway work zone.
The May 2014 crash on Interstate 69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis killed 49-year-old Kenneth Duerson Jr. of Indianapolis and 24-year-old Coty Demoss of Noblesville. They were standing along the road and about to move an arrow board after overnight paving.
Stafford is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 2.
