Waukegan police seek suspect in robbery near bank

Police in Waukegan are investigating a robbery that took place near a bank Monday afternoon.

Cmdr. Joe Florip said a person was robbed about 1 p.m. in the 3400 block of Sunset Avenue near a Fifth Third Bank just west of Green Bay Road.

The suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old who stands about 6 feet tall and was wearing a red hoodie and blue shorts, Florip said. The man last was seen leaving the area as the passenger in a blue SUV, but Florip said police do not have a description of the driver of the getaway car.

The robbery remains under investigation by the police department's criminal investigations division.
