Prospect Heights Block Party returns Aug. 13

Live music, food trucks and kids activities will highlight the Prospect Heights Park District's and City of Prospect Heights' annual Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Lion's Park, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road.

The event starts at 4 p.m. with the Prospect Heights Wheeling Youth Baseball/Softball sponsored Treasure Hunt. Children of all ages may participate in this free and exciting hunt for treasures on the ballfield.

The Prospect Heights Voice Singing competition will begin at 5 p.m. and children's inflatables will be available from 5 to 9 p.m. Wristbands are $10 or $2 per feature.

Food Trucks have been added to the Block Party this year. Cupcakes for Courage, Mario's Cart & the Pit Stop, The Cajun Connoisseur and Toasty Cheese will be open from 5 to 10 p.m., along with the beer tent.

Visitors can swim free in Lion's Pool from 6 to 9 p.m., then stay for the Lions Club's Duck Race at 8 p.m.

Live music starts at 7 p.m. with the versatile band Soda performing classic rock, 80s, new wave, Motown, alternative and more. Billy Elton, a Billy Joel and Elton John tribute band, starts at 9 p.m.
