Antioch's Taste of Summer offers food, music and rides, July 14-17

Enjoy food specialties prepared by several top restaurants, along with carnival rides, games, crafts and entertainment at Antioch's Taste of Summer, held Thursday through Sunday, July 14-17.

The festival will take place on Orchard and Skidmore in downtown Antioch. Taste hours are 4-10 p.m. Thursday, July 14; 4-11 p.m. Friday, July 15; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 16; and noon to 7 p.m. (carnival open to 8 p.m.) Sunday, July 17.

Food vendors scheduled to take part in the Taste include: Lodge of Antioch, Wings Etc., Brat Shop, Dairy Queen of Antioch, Tres Flores Funnel Cakes, Old Mill Creek Country Store, 1200 Embers, Luke's of Mundelein, Barbecued Rancho-New Waves and Old Texas Soda Company.

Attendees can enjoy their dining in the sunshine or under the big top while listening to musical entertainment in the Brook Bandshell. Performers include Bella Cain, Hi Infidelity, Suburban Cowboys, The Neverly Brothers, Shadows of Knight, Judson Brown and much.

Admission to the festival is free.

Wristbands good for an entire day's worth of rides will be available for $30 per day. Megaband passes good for the whole festival can be bought for $60 at the carnival ticket booth or $50 in advance. Individual ride tickets will also be available.

In addition to several booths full of exhibitors at the Taste, sidewalk sales and crafters are planned throughout town to coincide with the event.

A Special Needs Family Day will be offered from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, July 15. Advance registration is required.
