If leaders can't do the job, elect new ones
I equate the Illinois legislature with a slacker employee who cannot focus on priorities and diddles around with less important tasks while the work essential to keeping the business afloat languishes.
The employee may be personable and a great guy or gal, but there comes a time when the boss needs to choose between the survival of the business or allowing the employee to continue ignoring priorities.
I agree with the Daily Herald editorial that as taxpayers and voters, it is time for us to say "Enough!" and to ask our legislators to pass a real budget (not just a stopgap) every year and to get the state's finances in order.
If legislators cannot do what we "hired" (elected) them to do, then it's time to clean house and to elect people with backbone, skills and commitment to Illinois as replacements.
