Parents face neglect charges in fire deaths of 3 children

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) - Arrest warrants on charges of neglect have been issued for the parents of three young children who died in a fire at their Hammond apartment that authorities say had no gas, electric or water service.

The (Munster) Times reports (http://bit.ly/29sjnAB ) Andre and Michele Young were charged Friday with five counts of neglect of a dependent and Andre Young faces an additional five counts of neglect of a dependent. A probable cause affidavit states the children were left alone inside the apartment when the couple went outside to meet two people who had offered to work on their car.

Seven-month-old Jayden Young, 4-year-old Dasani Young and 3-year-old Alexia Young died in the fire on Jan. 8, 2014. According to court records, their deaths were ruled accidental.
