Severe thunderstorms hit Evansville area, knocks out power
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Severe thunderstorms packing heavy rains and winds gusts of 60 miles an hour left more than 22,000 homes and businesses in southwest Indiana without power on Thursday afternoon.
The Vanderburgh Emergency Management Agency reports "numerous reports of trees and wires down" around the county and in Evansville. Dispatchers received several reports of trees uprooted and knocked into houses. There are no immediate reports of injuries.
