WBDC ScaleUp Aurora named best-in-class resource for women business owners

ScaleUp Aurora, an entrepreneurial education program presented by the Women's Business Development Center, has been named by the National Women's Business Council as a best-in-class resource for women business owners and is featured on their new website, "Grow Her Business: A Resource for Start-up to Scale-up," a platform designed to improve access to resources required for women to grow their businesses.

ScaleUp Aurora was launched in 2015 with funding support from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for female- and male-owned small businesses generating revenues between $150,000 and $500,000, have been in business for at least two years, and two full-time employees. The program, which is delivered in English, aligns with the WBDC's mission of creating jobs and fueling economic growth, while expanding its services to the area's western corridor.

The 12-week program is a proven entrepreneurship education curriculum for growth-oriented entrepreneurs and provides one-on-one support, mentoring, access to capital and opportunities to build and strengthen connections and networks. Offered at no charge, participants gain practical skills they can put into action, including a strategic growth plan with customized action items to scale their businesses to the next level.

The next 12-week session will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, starting Oct. 4, at the WBDC Aurora offices, which are located at the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce at 43 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora.

For information, contact Nisha Floyd at nfloyd@wbdc.org or (630) 896-3101.

Business counseling at the Aurora office is available in both English and Spanish.

A nationally recognized economic development center now in its 30th year, the WBDC, headquartered in Chicago, provides a continuum of business development services to prospective and established women entrepreneurs including counseling, training, financial, certification and procurement assistance in Spanish and English.
