Home Helpers of Chicago to Honor Veterans at Aug. 18 Cubs Gam

The 14 Chicagoland offices of Home Helpers will host more than 120 veterans for the Aug. 18 Cubs versus Brewers game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Home Helpers is one of the nation's leading providers of affordable and flexible home care services to help keep seniors and veterans independent and secure in their own homes.

"Serving those who have served us is the foundation of what we do at Home Helpers," said Christine Browning R.N., president of Home Helpers of Barrington. "That goes for all of the seniors we care for, but few have served and sacrificed more than those who did so in uniform. We are honored to extend our thankfulness to these dedicated individuals with a special outing to the Cubs game."

Area Home Helpers offices serve hundreds of retired veterans and their families across the region. In addition to in-home caregiving and support with household chores, Home Helpers annually provides meals to Chicagoland vets each November in recognition of Veterans Day.

One of the veterans that will attend the Cubs game is 93-year old Marian Lever of Grayslake, Illinois. Lever is a retired Naval 2nd class World War II rural route letter carrier. Lever was among a few women who served in that role during the war and was known by the nickname "Mailmaam." Lever went on to work 50 years for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1986. A client of Home Helpers, Lever enjoys the simple things in life and says Home Helpers makes her "life easier." She especially appreciates the work done by the company's "outstanding caregivers."

Each of the Chicago area Home Helpers offices are making a limited number of seats available to veterans for the Aug. 18 game. The Barrington office of Home Helpers serves Illinois residents in Barrington, Lake Bluff, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Kildeer, Deerpark, Cary, Prospect Heights, Hawthorn Hills, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Wauconda, Fox River Grove, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling, Inverness, Grayslake, Carpentersville, Long Grove and surrounding suburbs.
