Tired of pols who ignore taxpayers

Kane County Chairman Chris Lauzen recently "double downed" on support for the Longmeadow parkway toll bridge boondoggle, even dismissing the results of the Dundee Township advisory referendum where 70 percent of the voters opposed Longmeadow, claiming the language was biased.

For the past 20 years through three referendums the voters of Dundee Township have opposed Longmeadow, and yet that means nothing to Lauzen.

After the 2012 primary, Lauzen came to a Dundee Township Democrat meeting to talk about our request to lower taxes and to oppose Longmeadow Toll bridge. Lauzen stated he would never allow Longmeadow to be built unless it was approved by the voters in a countywide referendum and would work hard to lower taxes.

Like your typical Illinois politician, Lauzen and District 24 Board member Joe Haimann will say anything to get elected. Haimann ran three times for county board on a platform opposing Longmeadow and using our forest preserves to subsidize private business (gravel mining, organic farming,etc.).

After Haiman finally won election in District 24 and Lauzen was elected County Chairman, both quickly caved to the special interest. As a result, Haimann was defeated in the primary by Jarett Sanchez who opposes the Longmeadow plan. The taxpayers of Kane County are tired of politicians who ignore the taxpayers and are beholden to the special interests.

Lauzen has the power to follow through on his promise to let the voters decide if they want to be on the hook for a nearly $200 million project that will do nothing for traffic and nobody wants. I encourage Maggie Auger, Dist. 23, and Becky Gillim, Dist. 21, to listen to their constituents or they may suffer the same fate as Joe Haimann in 2018.
