Objects to village's small veterans salute

Is Elk Grove Village a joke?

Did anyone else see the sad excuse of a Memorial Day wreath that was on display in front of the memorial fountain?

It looked like just a round circle of wood with a few flowers attached to only one top corner. What did it cost, about $20?

I find it very offensive to all our veterans to see what little respect was shown. No parade - cheap wreath - quick ceremony.

Elk Grove Village has the budget to pay for brick crosswalks that need to be repaired every one to two years, fancy landscaping by the Pavillion and Village Hall, new message signs that tell us nothing important, fancy banners for the light posts, expensive etching on the viaducts of I-90, and free concerts that attract everyone from surrounding towns.

But yet the Village of Elk Grove doesn't show the proper respect to our veterans with a proper ceremony and a decent display of appreciation. They spend $20 on a cheap wreath.

I guess the village is holding back to pay for the mayor's bike race and to give tax incentives to the business park. Shame on you Elk Grove Village and Mayor Johnson.
