Palatine throws big Independence Day parade during anniversary year
The Palatine Hometown Fest Fourth of July parade Saturday featured 70 participants, including several acts such as the Flat 43 BMX TEAM, the High School Drum Line, and Sam & The Giant Wheel.
In addition, the Medinah Shriner's Mini-Choppers Club entertained the crowd along with the West Suburban Shriner Club's "Roaring 57s."
It's the 60th year for the festival, which is put on by the Palatine Jaycees at Community Park at Palatine Road and Northwest Highway. And it comes as the town is marking its 150th anniversary.
