Tanner Museum offers July 4th fun
Visitors can enjoy a free afternoon of classic American fun from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the Aurora Historical Society's Tanner House Museum, 304 Oak Ave.
Just as the city parade downtown ends, the society will serve hot dogs, chips and ice cream for a nominal fee, while an accordion duo and a clown magician entertain. Other activities include a petting zoo and a blueberry pie-eating contest and free self-guided tours of the 1857 house. Visitors will see the newly renovated parlor with its authentic - and very brilliant - colors.
At 1 p.m., children will be invited to participate in a nationwide synchronized Ringing of Bells, a two-minute event that will feature famous Aurora bells. New this year will be a historic train bell.
