Engineers in Action

Queen of the Rosary Math teacher Heather McGuire challenged students in her fifth, sixth, and seventh grade math classes to build roller coasters for marbles using foam pipe insulation and masking tape.

Working in small groups, students collaborated, analyzed, and redesigned their roller coasters until they were functional. On the last day of school, students enjoyed the opportunity to test all ten roller coasters.

Miss McGuire teaches math and Spanish at the Elk Grove school.
