Court records available online for free in Delaware County

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Court records are now available online for free in Delaware County.

The Delaware Circuit Court system started the program in April. It's part of a statewide court record system that already used in 55 of Indiana's 92 counties which includes 243 courts. The (Muncie) Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/28IXtXm ) the system will manage about 10,000 new cases filed in Delaware County every year.

Delaware Circuit Court 2 Judge Kimberly Dowling says so far judges are pleased and they hope the public will have "easier, quicker and free access to court information."

There are two computers available at Delaware County Clerk Mike King's office for those who don't have online access. The system is paid for with proceeds from a court filing fee that the Indiana General Assembly dedicated to the project.
