Pyeongchang organizers move into 2018 Games headquarters

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) - The organizing committee for the 2018 Winter Olympics has moved into its new headquarters on the main site for the Pyeongchang Games.

The organizers have been operating from offices in the capital, Seoul, and in Pyeongchang but the new three-storey building near the Olympic Plaza will bring more than 700 staff under the one roof.

Organizing committee secretary-general Yeo Hyung-koo, who chaired the first weekly executive meeting at the new office, says "Since we are now working near the heart of the games, POCOG will definitely become a stronger team."

The Pyeongchang Games will be staged in two main clusters of venues, in the mountains and on the coast, from Feb. 9-25, 2018.
