Jackie Stoelting wins second straight Symetra Tour event

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Jackie Stoelting won consecutive Symetra Tour events for the second straight year Sunday, rallying to take the Four Winds Invitational by a stroke.

Five strokes behind second-round leader Emily Tubert, Stoelting finished with a 5-under 67 for a 7-under 209 total at Blackthorn. She earned $22,500 to jump from sixth to second on the money list with $52,946, with the top 10 at the end of the season earning LPGA Tour cards.

"I knew I would have to shoot a low number today to even have a chance," Stoelting said. "I just had to play my own game and make as many birdies as I could. I'm just fortunate that I was on top at the end of the day."

Ally McDonald was second after a 67.

Two weeks ago in Albany, New York, Stoelting made a 28-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff with Emma Talley to win the Fuccillo Kia Championship. Last year, the former Florida Southern player won events in Arkansas and Texas in consecutive starts.

"I guess winning two in a row is a good way to do things," Stoelting said. "The fact that I won two last year gave me confidence for this week thinking I just had a week off and I was feeling good after hardly touching a club last week."

Stoelting made four straight birdies on Nos. 9-12, rebounded from a bogey on the par-5 16th with a birdie on the par-3 17th and closed with a par on the par-4 18th.

"Once I saw the leaderboard on 18 and knew I had a one-shot lead, I tried to play the approach safe," Stoelting said. "I hit to the center of the green and left myself a bit of a tricky 3-footer, but it felt great to make the putt."

Marina Choi was third at 5 under after a 71. Tubert finished with a 78 to tie for 11th at 1 under.
