Red Bulls give coach Marsch a contract extension

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) - New York Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch has received a multiyear contract extension from the MLS team.

Marsch, who took charge in 2015 and then was voted Coach of the Year, is the 14th coach for the Red Bulls, who began play in 1996.

"This has been a great place for me, no doubt," Marsch said Friday. "So, I'm very thankful, but it doesn't mean anything in terms of what I put in to every day. I still am hungry as ever and I think this whole organization is hungry as ever to prove ourselves."

The Red Bulls are in second place in the MLS East with a 6-7-1 record. They won the 2015 Supporters' Shield with an 18-10-6 record and the best goal differential in the league (plus-19).
